In March, 8 Students from Eastern Michigan University spent their spring break working at University Settlement, and immersing themselves in the culture of Slavic Village. Together, they learned even a small group of committed volunteers can have a big impact on not only an organization, but also the lives of the people it serves. The Americorps NEO Skill Corps’ Job Fair and Community Networking Resource Event was a huge success. Held at Stella Walsh Recreation Center, over 350 candidates attended to share their resumes and interview with representatives from local private and public employers. Free Baby Boxes are available at University Settlement! Baby Boxes are just one way that parents can ensure that their young children sleep safely at night. University Settlement is one of just two distribution centers in Cuyahoga County making free Baby Boxes available to the families of newborns. To receive a Baby Box parents simply need to complete a parent education syllabus addressing safe sleep practices for infants and then answer a short quiz. With their certificate of completion they can pick up a box at University Settlement. Visit Baby Box University to complete your syllabus, and attend the upcoming Save our Babies event on July 22.

University Settlement is hosting the Second Annual Village Dance on Wednesday, April 12 at the Bohemian National Hall at Sokol Greater Cleveland. The Third Federal Foundation has graciously sponsored this event that will serve over 400 attendees. Read about the Village Dance here!
