AGENCY DIRECTOR
Tracey N. Mason shines in extraordinary ways. As young as fourteen years old, Mason committed herself to making a positive difference in other teens lives. She began working in the community educating teens on abstinence, and planning youth conferences and peer-to-peer teen programs. While attending college, Mason worked at Urban Minority Ounce of Prevention Services, Inc, where she successfully developed and implemented a life skill curriculum for more than 300 youth residing in Akron. She also provided financial and programmatic oversight in developing and creating budgets for new programs.
In 1994, Mason joined the Free Clinic of Greater Cleveland as the Finance Director. A year later, she was appointed Interim Director. During her tenure, Mason served a pivotal role in the Free Clinic’s capital initiative project. She provided financial oversight of the $7.5 million campaign and executed a contingency plan for the construction and move into the agency’s new 31,000 square foot facility.
Mason joined University Settlement as the Executive Director in November 2003. The agency’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Northern Broadway community. Under Mason’s leadership, The Magic Johnson Foundation named University Settlement as a recipient of a $250,000 grant.
Mason credits her mom and grandmother for modeling the way to success. “They really showed me what self-determination means. They were instrumental in keeping me focused and committed to making a difference in the community.”
Mason received a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the University of Akron.
She resides in Solon with her husband Alfred and their children Ayrin and Andrew.
