  • The multi-purpose Senior Center accommodates activities of all kinds and allows seniors to be fully involved with the larger community.
  • Seniors are provided with transportation to and from their home.
  • Field trips are taken to places of participant’s interest.

Youth Services
University Settlement hosts a myriad of services for youth. They include:

  • A state-licensed daycare center, Kids Around Daycare, serves children ages 3 to 12. The center has earned one star in Ohio’s voluntary three-star rating system showing that the agency goes above and beyond state mandates.
  • A drug prevention program serves children and teens onsite and provides drug prevention education in the local schools.
  • The 21st Century Community Learning Center provides afterschool tutoring for children ranging in age from kindergarten to sixth grade.
  • Summer camp has been offered at University Settlement for children of all ages for the past several years.
  • Exposure field trips are planned regularly for children enrolled in all programming.

Family Services
Mother-&-Son-resizedServing families in a holistic way is a priority for University Settlement.

  • Family To Family is a program that achieves positive change for children and families involved in the child welfare system. Families are matched with a specialist who can connect them with the services they need. The ultimate goal is to keep children with their families and in the Broadway/Slavic Village neighborhood.
  • Tapestry Systems of Care provides mental health support to families with children who have significant mental health challenges.
  • Strong Start and Healthy Fathering are two programs offered that lend support to parents and expectant parents.
  • Housing for Homeless Families provides assistance, financial, and case management services, for a period of time to families who have lost their housing with the aim of working towards self-sufficiency.
  • The Magic Johnson Computer Lab is open approximately 40 hours per week for local residents who need internet access or other computing services.
  • The Hunger Center operates a food pantry Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 am to 2 pm providing local residents with emergency groceries. The agency also delivers groceries monthly to homebound individuals. A hot meal is served every Tuesday and the last Wednesday of the month at 6 pm to individuals and families in need. (The food pantry is also open during every hot meal.)
