Leadership Team

University Settlement employs over 30 full-time staff members and 5 part-time employees to implement its ten programs. Approximately 1,000 volunteers per year support the efforts of the staff to accomplish all of the work that needs to be completed.

Earl Pike - Executive Director

Earl began working as University Settlement's Executive Director in January, 2018. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant to many local and national nonprofits and spent over 10 years as the CEO of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Earl specializes in strategic planning, fundraising, grant writing, advocacy/public policy, and change management. He is also has experience as a NIH researcher in the area of health disparities and teaches a class at John Carroll University on Strategic Planning and Nonprofit Strategy.

Patricia Gullian - Deputy Director

Patty has dedicated more than 30 years to University Settlement and currently serves as the Number Two. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Psychology from Cleveland State University and is a licensed social worker. Patty began her career in the nonprofit sector at what is now known at the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland.

Kaitlin Armocida - Development Director

Kaitlin Armocida has been with University Settlement since May of 2017. She began as the Development Coordinator and quickly became the Development Manager. She has her Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the Cooperstown Graduate Program and holds two Bachelors of Arts from Ohio State University including Cultural Anthropology and Art History. Before coming to University Settlement, she worked as a Fundraising and Development Intern at The Smithsonian National Zoo and also as a Public Information Office Assistant at The Ohio Arts Council.

 

Jalene Pardon - Finance Manager

Jalene Pardon started with University Settlement in 2016. Prior to her working here, she worked as the Co-Director at Shaker Square Area Development Corporation (SHAD), and previously was an Accountant at East Side Catholic Center & Shelter. She also has a Masters in Business Administration and Accounting from Jones International University. Many don’t know that Jalene served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1994 to 2006 where she was able to move ranks from Squad Leader to Platoon Guide in less than six months.
