Our Leadership Team





Patty has dedicated more than 30 years to University Settlement and currently serves as Director of Program Services. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Psychology from Cleveland State University and is a licensed social worker. Patty began her career in the nonprofit sector at what is now known at the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland. 




Seronica joined the Settlement in October 2007 and currently serves as the Director of Operations.  She brings over 15 years of experience working in nonprofit. She previously worked at Goodrich Gannett and Greater Cleveland Neighborhood Center Associations. She received a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management and Business Statistics from Cleveland State University and a MBA from the University of Phoenix.


Our Staff

University Settlement employs 28 full-time staff members and 5 part-time employees to implement its nine programs. Approximately 1,000 volunteers per year support the efforts of the staff to accomplish all of the work that needs to be completed.

Meet our Board President

Jeanne Mattern

Jeanne Mattern


Jeanne is the Director, Performance Improvement & Outcomes at Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland. She was elected Chair of the Board of Directors in December 2016.  


Dr. Mattern received a Ph.D. in medical sociology from Case Western Reserve University, and is a licensed social worker. She is also a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).


Dr. Mattern volunteers a lot of her time to making a difference in Cleveland, through her passion and leadership role at University Settlement.  As an experienced researcher, university professor and published author, Dr.  Mattern provides her expertise in the transformative work taking place in Broadway-Slavic Village.
