Doing What’s Right

Slavic Village is a neighborhood that has been historically disinvested, discriminated, and overlooked. During the foreclosure crisis in 2008, Slavic Village was named “Ground Zero” most foreclosures per census track in the country. Today, it is more economically distressed than 99.5% of zip codes in the country. Residents of Slavic Village know what it’s like to fall, but we believe it’s time to rise.

Slavic Village is already a diverse neighborhood, with 50% African American, 47% Caucasian, and 3% Latinx residents. Beyond race, Slavic Village is a culmination of individuals with different incomes, genders, ages, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, beliefs, affiliations, and lived experiences. We believe it is time to build on the strengths of that diversity, and to prioritize equity and inclusion.

Here are the steps we have taken to carry out that mission.
